Email marketing is one of the best ways to stay connected to customers and people interested in your business. If you’re new to email marketing or to PhotoBiz, you’re in luck, PhotoBiz accounts include 10,000 free emails a month. You can use these to send email campaigns and automated email series to your contacts.

What does this mean? Say you have a list of 1,000 contacts. You can potentially send 10 mass emails to this list a month. Have a larger list? Or need to send more emails? Use tags for organization & marketing

Tagging is easily one of the simplest things you can do to organize contacts and content within the PhotoBiz platform. A tag can be used to track user activity on your website and interactions with your tools. For example, a contact can earn a tag for commenting on a blog post, purchasing a specific product, or completing a form. You get to choose what tag they earn for what activity. Tag data connects to the Contacts tool (aka CRM) so you can use tags to learn about your contacts and tailor follow-up communications.  Let’s explore what tags can be applied to:

  • Products and services in e-commerce

    Products or services can be organized with tags. This is great for on-site search, plus as people make purchases, tags associated with their purchases will automatically be added to their record. This can be really helpful when it comes to sending promotional emails. Based on what people have bought in the past, you can send them emails about related products.

 

  • Forms

    You can add tags to forms and then anyone who fills out that form will have a tag added to their contact record. For instance, if you have a mini-session form tagged with “Spring mini-sessions 2022”, anyone who completes it will earn that tag. Then you can send follow-up emails to everyone with that tag with more details about the event, to encourage them to sign up for a future mini-session, or anything else you want to market to them.

 

  • Blog posts

    Tags can also be applied to blog posts. When someone comments on a blog post with tags on it, their contact record will earn those tags. Let’s say you have a holiday session blog post, you receive comments, and the contacts earn a “holiday session” tag. You would now have a list of contacts to market future holiday sessions! 

 

You can create unique tags for each form, product, service, and blog post, or you can have a system of tags that get used across the ecommerce, form, and blog tools. Once you have those tags set up, they will start working to automatically organize your contacts for you. Then you can use that information to segment your email marketing efforts.

Not a Photoshop user? There are plenty of design resources if Photoshop isn’t your thing. Canva is also a great resource to build out design elements that you can incorporate into email marketing campaigns. One of the cool things about Canva is they have presets to make animations that you can download as gifs and incorporate some motion into your emails. (To add a gif to an email, upload it to the Document section of your File tool and use the file URL to embed it in your email).

Understanding data

Once you send emails that's it, right? No way! After an email is sent, it's time to look at the data (well not right away, you have to give people time to open and interact with the email). Email metrics reports provide lots of data that you can use to inform your marketing strategy. This includes who opened the emails, who clicked on links, as well as who unsubscribed from your email list. This precious data is collected for you to review. You should use it to make informed decisions about what to do in the future. It is important to look at what works, and what doesn’t. 

 

This data and how it is tracked has changed over time due to many factors, including privacy laws.
